FAQ: Who selects the winners? When are they announced?

There are two types of ‘winning’ here on Poptent:

Brand Purchases + Finalists
In this case, our brand client select videos they want to purchase for use in their ad campaign. They use their own internal criteria, all based around the execution of the Creative Brief and the current campaign they intend to use the video in. Finalists are selected by the clients when possible. These were the group of videos they highly considered.

We always announce these purchases and finalists as quickly as we can. When an assignment ends, we send the brand all the videos for their review. They watch them all and make their selection(s). That usually takes around 10-14 days after the assignment concludes. We apologize for the varying lengths of time, but our clients’ time tables are what dictate the schedule. Please be patient. We won’t forget about you!

Editor’s Choice Awards + Honorable Mentions
When an assignment has Editor’s Choice Awards, these are selected internally at Poptent and awarded after our clients make their selection(s) to purchase. Our criteria is rather widely varied, but often times its that we’d like to recognize excellence that may have slipped past the notice (or marketing goals) of the brand client. Honorable Mentions are also chosen by the Poptent team.

All purchases and award winners are announced in the assignment’s Town Hall, Results Gallery and on our blog. If you’d like to stay up to date, we recommend you subscribe to the free email alerts from our blog, follow us on Twitter or Like us on Facebook.

Hey, I was wondering what the rules were on edits on our commercials. Say for instance we find out that our commercial is not acceptable because of a copyright issue that can easily be edited out (without hurting the quality of the commercial), is it possible for the company (e.g. proquo) to ask that we edit our commercial so that they can air it/distribute/whatever they do with it?

Thanks in advance for your response!

Anthony – ideally we wouldn’t have to do that, but yes, it is possible. Try to avoid those issues in the beginning, however, and we’ll all be happy campers. :)
