Public Plagiarism & MoFilm - Wow.

Here’s an interesting story about Nokia and Mofilm. Nokia used Mofilm to run a contest: Nokia MinMO. (It was in Europe.) Here’s a link to the winner:

The winner is a student in the UK, and it seems also submitted the video as a project for her degree. Nokia and Mofilm apparently raved about the video. I’m told that she’s now in Cannes enjoying her prize.

Problem is, she plagiarized it, word for word. This will link you to the original creator’s post and link:

What's worse is … apparently even though it was known to be plagiarized … she still received the top prize and the trip to Cannes.

Who is at fault here? How could MoFilm have prevented this? They did come out (yesterday) with an apology … after they where outed. Was the way they handled it deceptive?
